Nokia announces new sat-nav gadget

Nokia has once again branched out from its mobile core business with the announcement of its first GPS sat-nav device, the 330 Auto Navigation.

The 330 comes with Europe-wide maps and an 89mm (3.5-inch) touchscreen, as well as expandable memory to add in maps of other areas.

The device also includes photo, video and music players to keep the kids entertained. It will sell for around €360 (£240).

The move from mobile phone provider to sat-nav seller is not entirely unexpected. Nokia bought mapping company gate5 in early September and released handsets sporting GPS shortly after.

The 330 isn't Nokia's first foray into the world outside the phone. Last year the Finnish company announced its departure from the strictly cellular with the 770, an Internet tablet running Linux.
