GTA IV hits one million UK sales
This week, UK official sales tracking body Chart-Track revealed that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV is still number one, and has now broken past one million in sales.
When the game finally arrived on 29 April, it broke records in the UK, where it sold 631,000 copies in the first 24 hours that it went on sale. In the first week it was top of the charts, as a total of 926,000 gamers joined in Niko's adventures in Liberty City. The game sold out in many retailers in the UK in the days after launch, as stores struggled to cope with demand for the popular title.
Unsurprisingly, GTA IV sales were much reduced from the first week, down some 77 per cent. However the game still beat the number two contender, Nintendo's Wii Fit, by 4-to-1.
The Xbox 360 version was still the most popular, with the gap between sales on Microsoft's format widening to 62 per cent of all sales, compared to 55 per cent last week.
